The center plans to hold a function for listening to the recording of the Pashto translation of Shi Tao’s poem. The center will also provide information about Shi Tao as well as the PEN Poem Relay and the 2008 Olympics Campaign in China.
- The Afghan PEN center has about 1000 member writers throughout the country, related to Afghanistan’s official and local languages including Pashto, Dari, Uzbeki, Turkmeni, Balochi, Pashayee, Norstani, etc.
- The center has published 33 books:novels, short stories, poetry and research papers in 2007 and held a seminar on the well known Dari poet Mawlana Jalaluddin Balkhi and another one on Amir Ali Sher Nawayee, a well known minister during the Timurid era in Afghanistan.
- The center translated and published Hekayat-e- Mawlana (Jalaluddin Balkhi’s Tales), which contains poems, anecdotes and reflections in different Afghan languages.
