  • From Spring 2008, Oksana Chelysheva, activist of the former Russian-Chechnyan Friendship Association and part of the editorial staff of Novaja Gazeta´s Nizhni-Novgorod edition, will be the "Safe City writer" in Helsinki.
  • the Women Writers Committee of Suomen PEN arranged a conference for Central-Asian women writers in August 2007.  An anthology of Central-Asian and international women writers, "Kyltymätön uuni – The Insatiable Furnace", was published for the occasion, edited by Rita Dahl.
  • As a further follow-up, a bi-lingual (Russian and English) anthology containing work of female authors from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tadjikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan will be launched both in Bishkek and Helsinki at the end of 2008.
