Related Events

When the Olympic Torch reaches Middle East, the Kurdish PEN Centre will hold an event announcing the arrival of the poem at their Centre with a reading of the poems in the three Kurdish dialects: Nord-Kurdish (Kurmanci), Middle Kurdish (Sorani), Nord-West-Kurdish (Kirmancki) and call for the release of Shi Tao and all writers and journalists in prison in China.

  • The Kurdish PEN is taking part in this activity with other Centres and the organisers of this PEN Poem Relay on behalf of International PEN.
  • The Kurdish PEN Centre as it is now was founded in 1990 and is a Centre for all Kurdish linguistic regions of Kurdistan and the Kurds in diaspora.
  • The Kurdish PEN Centre collaborates in their efforts to be the voice of International PEN in all parts of Kurdistan and in the diaspora.
  • Activities of the Kurdish PEN Centre include several events during the year under the title "Literature Days" and participation in campaigns to release detained writers.
