Five key facts:
- Philippine PEN was founded by the novelist F. Sionil Jose in 1958.
- It is the oldest writers' organization in the Philippines.
- Its counts over two hundred Filipino writers as members.
- It meets once a month, usually on the last Saturday of the month, and organizes an annual conference on topics related to literature and writing.
To mark the event of its 50th anniversary, it organized a national conference on the theme "Literature, Nation, and Globalization," and published three anthologies of contemporary Philippine literature and one retrospective anthology of works by PEN members past and present.
