  • The Romanian PEN Centre was founded in 1926, thus becoming a contemporary of the original PEN Centre, the English one, and the other early European PEN Centres.
  • After the communist period, the Romanian PEN Centre was instantly revived, thus ensuring continuity with its previous activities.
  • The Romanian PEN's primary concern is to promote literary values and communication between writers.
  • Its members are renowned Romanian writers, some of whom have gained international recognition.
  • The main endeavour of the Romanian PEN Club is to encourage multiculturalism and liberty of expression in many languages.
