Darug is one of the Indigenous language groups in the Sydney basin. Richard Greenthun has translated the poem to the dialect of Darug his grandmother spoke.

Arrernte is the language and language grouping of the original custodians of the land in central Australia around Alice Springs. Eastern Arrernte come from lands to the east of Alice Springs.
