Korash HUSEYIN

Sentence: 3 years in prison.

Editor of the Uyghur-language Kashgar Literary Journal, arrested for publishing Nurmuhemmet Yasin’s short story "Wild Pigeon" in late 2004. Chinese authorities consider the story to be a criticism of their government’s presence in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Huseyin was sentenced to three years in prison and is due to be released in 2008.
