Juni
door Shi Tao
geen enkele dag
kan juni doen vergeten
juni, mijn hart ging dood
mijn gedichten gingen dood
en mijn liefste
ging ook dood in een romantische zee van bloed
juni, de verzengende zon deed mijn huid barsten
onthulde de ware aard van mijn wonde
juni, de vissen zwommen weg uit de bloedrode zee
naar een andere plek voor hun winterslaap
juni, de aarde vervormd, de rivieren verstomd
stapels brieven konden onmogelijk aan de doden worden bezorgd

Until recently, Jan De Meyer (1961) taught Classical Chinese at Leiden University. He now has retreated to the Flemish countryside, to be able to devote all of his time to writing and literary translating. He is currently translating the Daoist classic Liezi into Dutch.
Iege Vanwalle (1969) teaches Chinese, translates modern Chinese poetry (a.o. Zheng Min, Wang Jiaxin, Xi Chuan, Mo fei) and is one of the editors of Het trage vuur, magazine for Chinese literature in translation (Dutch).
The translation to Dutch is a collaboration of PEN Vlaanderen and PEN the Netherlands.
